If the left hand side of your screen is white, shows the Java logo or has a red X instead of the cam/chat list it is usually caused by one of the following:

A popup blocker being enabled

Check to see if you have any popup blockers enabled. The following link has a pop-up test and also shows the configuration required to allow ANYwebcam.com to run with some of the more common Pop-up blockers.

Not accepting the ActiveX control

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 check below the address bar on your browser to ensure you are not being prompted to allow the ActiveX control to load. This appears in a yellow information box.

Windows Vista Protection being enabled

If you are using Windows Vista, try disabling Vista Protection to see if this resolves the issue. This can be done by double clicking Protection Mode is On on the task bar at the bottom of your browser window.

Not accepting the Java certificate when prompted

If you did not select Trust when prompted to accept the Java certificate for ANYwebcam.com you will need to uninstall and reinstall your Java. Ensure to select Trust the next time you are prompted.
  1. Select Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Select each instance of Java and select Remove.
  3. Repeat this for every instance of Java installed.
  4. Once you have uninstalled all Java you will need to reboot your machine.
  5. Reinstall the latest version of Java.

Where can I download Java?

Multiple Versions of Java

If you have multiple versions of Java installed it can cause this issue. This is particularly an issue with new installations of Internet Explorer 8. To check for multiple versions:
  1. Select Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Select each instance of Java and select Remove.
  3. Repeat this for every instance of Java installed.
  4. Once you have uninstalled Java you will need to reinstall the latest version.

If you continue to receive the grey box after trying all of above please contact us at http://support.anywebcam.com. Please be sure to include your Settings log. The information in this log will help us identify and troubleshoot the issue.

Your Settings Log is located in a file named Log.txt. This file is located in your AWC_Username directory. The location of this directory can vary depending on your operating system and version of java. In most cases it is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<your windows username>\.
You can open the file using Notepad. Copy the contents of the file and include it in a support request to Support.
